In her 12-week course on Fairy Tales, Peer Leader Sydney Wilde uses the Great Courses, "A Children's Guide to Folklore and
Wonder Tales" to mediate a delightful romp through our collective unconscious. The popular series features Hannah Harvey, an award-winning teacher and professional
storyteller, from whom Sydney pulls provocative ideas plus tips on how to tell these wonderful tales
to friends and loved ones. Sydney is a retired Unitarian Universalist Minister and devotee of mythology since she was 11, when she received her
first book of Greek and Roman Mythology. In seminary, she studied the
psychological and cultural impact of Myth and Ritual on civilization
from a Jungian perspective. She has expanded her fascination of all
things Jungian by studying Jungian interpretations of fairy tales, the
use of female goddesses as Jungian Archetypes, comparative mythology,
and by pursuing the art of storytelling. She has been collecting myths
and telling stories for more than 35 years.
