To begin her presentation, Dr. Christine Verhill, defines physiology: “How the biochemical processes and anatomy of the body interact to maintain a living organism.” She then defines the physiological measurements and explains how she is using them to effectively control and enhance fish populations. She notes that the environment in which the fish live affects these measurements. Dr. Hill puts this information in the context of why preserving steady populations of fish species is vital to the health of the environment.
