Bruce Wristen Investigative Lieutenant, Butte County District Attorney's Office
Lt. Wristen supervises Butte County’s Major Crimes and Consumer Protection units within the District Attorney’s Office. He shares information about the most common financial scams seen by the Consumer Protection Unit, scams that are often aimed at the elderly. He illustrates the problem by describing actual cases he and his investigators have seen, including one in which an elderly victim sent $100,000 to the scammers. Lt. Wristen’s motto for all seniors and other would-be scam victims is: “If it’s too good to be true, it’s too good to be true!”
