The Chinook salmon is culturally, economically, and resourcefully important to the Pacific Northwest. The majority of the fish come from Alaska but they can travel as far south as Fresno, California. Dr. Steve Blumenshine focuses this presentation on the conservation efforts surrounding salmon and how they interact with the environment throughout their vast range. He explains the research he and his team completed over 7 years in the San Joaquin River at the southern end of the range and the threats the species faces.
