Halloween wasn’t always trick or treating, costumes, and alcoholic beverages. In this presentation, Kevin Dalton shows how Halloween is a holiday that has been continually transforming over many centuries. Starting with the “All Hallow’s Eve” of the Celts and the Pagan “Samhain” rituals, and on through the introduction of Halloween to the United States, Dalton traces the holiday’s evolution. He concludes with a survey of how Halloween is celebrated today in different countries around the world.
