Open Doors of Sacramento began as a small refugee resettlement agency in 1993. The staff soon discovered that many of the refugees were victims of human trafficking. The organization now provides assistance to survivors and helps law enforcement to find the perpetrators. Two members of the Open Doors staff discuss who the victims are, the extent of human trafficking in the U.S. and in California, the types of assistance available to survivors, and the federal Trafficking Victims Protection Act. They also offer insight into the psychological and practical problems faced by the victims.
