Poet, memoirist, and translator, José Antonio Rodríguez is a Mexican immigrant and first-generation high school and college graduate. In this poignant and lyrical presentation, Dr. Rodríguez reads excerpts from his poetry books. His books include the memoir House Built on Ashes, finalist for the PEN America Los Angeles Literary Award; and the poetry collections The Shallow End of Sleep, winner of the Bob Bush Memorial Award from the Texas Institute of Letters; and Backlit Hour, finalist for the Paterson Poetry Prize. Join José as he shares some of his insightful and personal poems.
