Money 101: Credit Cards & Budgeting

The speakers use their daily experience in working with students about financial matters – and their own personal experience – to present suggestions about how to avoid credit card debt. They start with a dramatic example, explaining that if a person has a $3,000 credit card balance at 17% interest and pays only a minimum $50 payment per month, it takes 38 years to pay off the debit – and the person ends up paying $10,553. To help students avoid such situations, the presenters pass along tips for planning ahead and budgeting.
