Dr. Burgess was invited to the CSU, Chico campus as part of the Spring Colloquium Philosopher Speaker Series hosted by Phi Sigma Tau, the campus Philosophy Honor Society. His presentation is a stimulating exploration of contemporary research in formal semantics, and possible compatibility issues with parallel research in theories of truth, particularly deflationary accounts which seek to reduce truth down to language. Dr. Burgess argues for a compatibility between these two research areas in novel ways.
